Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA)

Advance your career as a dental professional while meeting the future needs of dentistry. Program is designed in accordance with the PA State Board of Dentistry’s EFDA guidelines. Class includes 30 sessions of classroom/laboratory instruction, followed by a clinical externship in a dental office comprised of 120 hours that the student completes at their own pace, over 15 weeks.

  • Learning will take place in the classroom, laboratory, and pre-clinical settings. Subject matter will be taught by instructors with decades of experience, giving personal attention and advice.
  • The training will culminate in a clinical externship where skills taught in the laboratory and preclinical settings will be performed under the direct supervision of and evaluated by a licensed and practicing dentist.
  • Place, contour, and finish amalgams and composite restorations. 
  • Place and remove matrices, wedges, rubber dams, apply bases and liners, coronal polish and apply fluoride.

Approx. 30-50 weeks/210 hours
Mon/Wed 6–9 PM & Daytime hours (Externship)
