EPHRATA, PA (October 23, 2026) – Lancaster County Career & Technology Center (LCCTC) is proud to announce the
approval of a $491,100 grant to support its Heavy Equipment Operations & Basic Maintenance Program at the
Brownstown Campus. The funding will enhance technical education, expand industry-recognized credential opportunities, and create stronger pathways from high school to apprenticeship and employment.
The grant will support several significant investments, including:
– Modern Training Equipment: Purchase of a heavy equipment simulator, backhoe, and CDL dump truck to provide realistic, hands-on training.
– CDL Training Opportunities: Full tuition coverage for eligible graduates of LCCTC’s Heavy Equipment Operations and
– Diesel Equipment Technology programs pursuing their Commercial Driver’s License.
– Registered Apprenticeship Support: Tuition assistance for ABC Keystone Heavy Equipment Apprentices, strengthening the connection between education and employment.
– Expanded Curriculum: Additional training resources in surveying, grading, site preparation, equipment operation, and
construction safety.
“By combining modern equipment, industry certifications, CDL training, and registered apprenticeship opportunities, we are preparing students with the skills and credentials employers need while removing financial barriers to career advancement” said Michael Moeller, Assistant Administrative Director.
LCCTC anticipates approximately 20 graduates annually from its secondary Heavy Equipment Operations program. The
expansion will also benefit Diesel Equipment Technology graduates and post-secondary apprentices pursuing CDL
licensing. The initiative builds upon LCCTC’s existing partnership with ABC Keystone’s Heavy Equipment Operator
Apprenticeship. Funds will be available to support employers with apprenticeship costs.
