The Structural Steel Foreman is a highly skilled, certified welder who is to plan, evaluate, organize, direct, control, supervise, and manage the Weld Shop Operations which consists of Welders and Metal Workers (hereafter known as “the Weld Shop”) to maximize profitability through the proper deployment of suitable labor, tools, equipment and materials to the various tasks required for all phases of the steel fabrication of a project from start to completion, whether it is a complete building or partial construction of a building or project, in order to deliver a quality project in a given time limit, per approved plans, by developing and implementing a Method of Construction (MOC) plan, using Lean Manufacturing methods, quality control measurements and safety standards while working side by side with local sub-trades and the Project Management team. Accountable to the Plant Supervisor, the Structural Steel Foreman is responsible and accountable for the overall outcome of the quality, accuracy, and compliance of all steel fabrication for buildings or products. The Structural Steel Foreman shall also develop successful fabrication strategies to obtain the best possible ROI for the stakeholders.

A Structural Steel Foreman is at times a back-up level position for the Plant Supervisor and will on occasion need to be prepared to take charge of managing all construction workers for a short duration, under the direction of the Operations Manager.

Requirements include but are not limited to minimum 5 years’ experience in steel fabrication and welding, minimum 3 years’ experience in management, background in Welding, Steel and Metal Fabrication, Safety, Quality Assurance, HR, Scheduling/Budgets, Project Management, and Purchasing, and certified at minimum as a AWS D1.1 welder; must be able to read, comprehend, and understand AWS symbols, welding wire data sheets, and AWS (WPS) welding procedure specifications.
