This position is responsible for maintaining the efficient repair and conditions of all assets of the Hersheypark Camping Resort including the daily operation of the pool and pool chemicals. This position is also responsible for ensuring that all work performed by the Maintenance department and Cabin Attendants in cabins, bathhouses and public areas meets the expected standards of cleanliness and consistency.
This is a part time year round position, typically scheduled 40 hours per week May through October and minimal working hours November through April.
Job Functions:
Create and manage all employee schedules for the maintenance & grounds department, to include managing time off requests, creating & dispersing schedules and managing shift changes
Responsible for maintaining employee time cards to ensure accuracy of punches and tracking attendance
Oversee and supervise pool operation including but not limited to: water testing and chemical balancing, equipment repairs, safety regulations, and assisting lifeguards in closing the pool at the end of the day
Oversee and supervise grounds maintenance team including but not limited to: run gas powered lawn equipment (such as zero turn mowers, string trimmers, chain saws, hedge trimmers, etc.), collect trash around campground including trash receptacles and recycling containers, and clean fire pits
Provide maintenance in the following areas: Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Carpentry, Cable and Wi-Fi, as well as others identified as needed including vehicle and golf cart repairs
Inspecting bath houses, laundry rooms, and public areas to include the game room and registration area for cleanliness and maintenance challenges
Assist housekeeping as needed in cleaning cabins, bathhouses and public areas
Using the property management system and other departmental software to assign cabins, print reports, assign daily tasks, log maintenance needs, and answer/respond to company emails
Monitoring staff activity to ensure productivity and safe work practices
Daily record keeping of assignments, staff, and guest opportunities
Assisting in training employees in cleaning procedures
Coaching and counseling employees for corrective action
Proper use of cleaning agents, chemicals, and equipment to include but not limited to: propane and propane tanks, pool chemicals, cleaning chemicals, gasoline
Handling guest opportunities in a professional and appropriate manner
Respond to all guest requests in a timely and professional manner
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Basic Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must have the ability to wear a half face or full face respirator
Minimum 1 year experience with electric, plumbing, and basic HVAC
Additional Qualifications:
Supervisory experience preferred
Keyboarding skills and computer literacy
Experience with employee and guest relations skills
Experience with conflict resolution and problem solving
Ability to speak, read, write and understand English
Ability to learn and understand basic pool chemistry and operations
Within two months of employment, must be able to pass a respirator fit test, Category Core & Category 24 Pesticide Exam, as well as the Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Certification Exam
Must be able to act as a lifeguard when needed Working Conditions:
Physical requirements require mobility and good physical condition. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, lift, carry, sit, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
Employees are subject to a variety of weather conditions, including but not limited to: extreme heat, sun exposure, cold, and inclement weather. Work is almost exclusively outdoors
Must be able to lift, pull, push, operate a maximum of 75 lbs
Exposure to basic cleaning chemicals, propane, gasoline, and pool chemicals
Exposure to machinery to include lawn care equipment, tractors, and golf carts
Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs, including weekends and holidays, evenings, and overtime
