Job Summary:
The Kitchen Manager is the backbone of our child care program. This is the only kitchen position; therefore, the Kitchen Manager is solely responsible for all aspects including the cleanliness of the kitchen. Full time, M-F 6:30-2:30 in child care setting.

Leadership & Management Skills:
Team Leadership: Motivating, training, and supervising classroom staff
Conflict Resolution: Addressing and resolving issues

Time Management: Managing the fast-paced kitchen environment and ensuring timely food preparation and service.

Culinary & Operational Skills:

Food Preparation & Quality:
Ensuring food is prepared according to CACFP recipes and standards, maintaining high quality and consistency.

Menu Development:
Contributing to CACFP menu planning and development.

Inventory Management:
Tracking and managing food inventory, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste.

Food Safety & Sanitation:
Implementing and enforcing food safety protocols and maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.

Cost Control:
Managing food costs, reducing waste, and ensuring profitability.

Problem-Solving:
Identifying and resolving issues that arise in the kitchen, such as equipment malfunctions or staff shortages.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

Verbal & Written Communication: Communicating effectively with staff, customers, and vendors.

Active Listening: Paying attention to staff concerns and feedback.

Teamwork: Fostering a collaborative and positive environment.

Working Conditions: Steps to Success shares the kitchen located at Zion Lutheran Church. A propane fueled stove, oven and two convection ovens are shared with the church's food ministry as well as a center preparation island, pots & pans and the three compartment sink. One commercial refrigeration, one commercial freezer and a small chest freezer are dedicated to food storage for the child care center. Dedicated cabinets and drawers hold the Steps owned necessities; seasonings, utensils, equipment, etc.
