Career Pathways
Perform administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties include scheduling appointments, maintaining records, billing, and coding for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by a physician. Medical Assistants are typically not employed in hospitals or long-term care facilities.
Conduct tests on cardiovascular systems using electrocardiogram machines. *Requires postsecondary courses
Draw blood for tests, transfusions, donations, or research. May explain procedures to patients and assist in the recovery of patients with adverse reactions. *Requires postsecondary courses
