Perform limited clinical duties under the direction of a dentist. Clinical duties may include equipment preparation and sterilization, preparing patients for treatment, assisting the dentist during treatment, and providing patients with instructions for oral healthcare procedures. You may also perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes.

Dental hygienists work alongside dentists and other health care professionals to help patients maintain good oral health. As a dental hygienist, you’ll handle routine oral cleanings and care, offer preventative options, screen for potential problems, and help dentists tackle various health issues pertaining to patients’ mouths, teeth, and gums. *Post-Secondary degree required

Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums. May treat diseases of nerve, pulp, and other dental tissues affecting oral hygiene and retention of teeth. May fit dental appliances or provide preventive care. *Postsecondary degree required
