The Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) supports dentists in delivering high-quality patient care by performing advanced clinical duties permitted under state regulations. The EFDA assists with restorative procedures, prepares treatment rooms, educates patients, and helps ensure efficient daily office operations while maintaining a safe and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist dentists during examinations and dental procedures
Perform expanded functions as allowed by state certification and licensure
Place and contour restorative materials
Take dental impressions, radiographs, and intraoral photographs
Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms
Fabricate temporary crowns and restorations
Apply sealants, fluoride treatments, and topical anesthetics as permitted
Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care
Maintain accurate patient records and charting
Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards
Monitor inventory and order dental supplies as needed
Support front office duties when necessary
Pay Rate: starting $25 based on experience
