Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

Full-time Position, Available on: 2022-06-22

The Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Operator is responsible for the operation, repair and maintenance of the county’s Wastewater Treatment Plant, spray irrigation and sludge handling facilities.

A criminal background check is required.

Essential Duties
Collect samples for analysis.
Perform physical, chemical and biological tests on samples and record test results in the WWTP log.
Clean water filters and perform general custodial work to keep the WWTP and equipment clean.
Paint sewage tanks, catwalks and equipment, when necessary.
Operate pumps.
Make minor repairs to mechanical equipment.
Operate a data processing terminal, personal computer and other related equipment.
Maintain and operate equipment utilized for cutting, collecting and removing grass from spray irrigation fields.
Perform ongoing maintenance and operation of the spray irrigation system.
Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.
Qualifications/Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Qualifications / Requirements:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Six months to one year of job-related experience.
Must possess or obtain a Class C1 Wastewater Treatment license within 2½ years of appointment.
Ability to read flow meters, charts and gauges accurately and record readings.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to operate and maintain machinery or learn how to operate and maintain machinery.
Must possess mechanical aptitude and skills.
Familiarity with senior operator’s operating requirements for WWTP and DEP regulations applicable to position.
Knowledge of testing and treatment procedures for wastewater treatment and water purification processes.
Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.
A valid driver’s license is required.
