Job Summary: To administer all aspects of a Dental Hygiene Services Program for the public and non-public school in accordance with the district dental program and PA Department of Health guidelines.

Qualifications:
PDE Educational Specialist Certification as School Dental Hygienist (PK-12)
Current PA license as Registered Dental Hygienist
Bachelor’s Degree or working towards CSDH credentials with expected completion within the 2022-2023 school year
Demonstrates knowledge in the area of assignment
Possesses a positive attitude toward the teaching profession, service to the district, and importance and purpose of the education program
Proficiency in use of current technology for individual or group demonstration or communication
Must be able to flex and vary hours to accommodate needs of students, parents, and other teachers
Possesses effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface diplomatically with teachers, administrators, parents, students, and outside organizations
Demonstrates effective communication skills to provide accurate information to others and to obtain, give, and follow directions
Demonstrates ability to provide good judgment, planning, and human relations skills, as well as be required to work under periods of stress due to the level of the position responsibility
To follow the standard of member conduct as stated in the PA Code of Professional Practice and Conduct for Educators
Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements
Candidate must adhere to all local, state, federal, and school code requirements for employment

Duties & Responsibilities: (Abbreviated – Please review the Job Description for more details on this specific opportunity)

Provide age-appropriate dental health education lessons to all students using various methods, including hands-on tooth brushing, flossing, nutrition, multimedia presentations and motivational techniques as per district dental program
To maintain knowledge of resources, materials and technology
To differentiate instruction and design learning experiences for students to meet individualized needs
Provide dental screenings for students in K, third and seventh grade
Records student’s dental health findings using the district’s Student Information System (SIS)
Maintain records of dental screenings and provide necessary follow up evaluation as outlined in district dental program
Maintain records of dental lessons, screening and referrals each school year
Maintain information about dental resources in the community to support students
Complete requirements of Dental Hygiene Services for the School Health Annual Reimbursement Request System (SHARRS)

*Placement upon salary scale is dependent upon education and years of experience; salary will be pro-rated based upon 0.6 FTE.
