Resident Assistant/Personal Care Assistant (PC)

Full-time, Part-time, Permanent Position, Available on: 2022-07-06

The purpose of this position is to provide care for residents in the Personal Care areas. This care will be performed in accordance with Mennonite Home Communities Mission Statement and Philosophy of Care.

Resident Service- Practices a resident-centered focus. Creating an environment of compassion by acknowledging and respecting the individuality of each resident.
Accountability- Takes responsibility for own actions and monitors personal performance to ensure quality resident care and quality services. Follows department’s and organization’s policies and procedures.
Communication- Practices expressing oneself effectively and respectfully. Also listens well, gives and receives feedback, uses constructive criticism and helps to resolve conflicts.
Teamwork- Being open to learning from each other and celebrating and creating community together. Cooperates and partners with fellow team members to accomplish goals and shared purposes.

Responsible to address the following as needed:
Personal hygiene needs – i.e. bathing, dressing, hair care, mouth care, et
Assist in transporting residents who require assistance.
Distribute food trays as needed, make beds; answer call bells.
Provide incontinent care to residents as needed.
Observe and report any changes in resident’s condition; provide information for resident evaluations.
Responsible to complete and document vital signs, weights and heights.
Responsible to keep residents room neat and tidy; follow appropriate procedures for handling soiled linens.
Responsible to provide care in a manner that maintains residents’ dignity and state of well-being.
Responsible to function as a team member wherever assigned demonstrating a positive, helpful attitude; willing to assist as needed.

Responsible to ensure that the work area of assigned floor is neat and clean.
Must possess the knowledge of DHS Regulations 2600.
Must possess the knowledge of infection control, fire and disaster procedures, Resident’s Rights and HIPAA.
Employee has completed annual compliance and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the code of conduct in the performance of their duties.
Mandatory training requirements completed as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of DHS Direct Care Training program.
The resident assistant is responsible to the Director of Personal Care, Clinical Coordinator, and Med Tech/LPN.
