ACME, a division of the Albertsons Companies, is currently searching for a Quality Control Inspector Produce to join our team. Albertsons Companies is one of the largest food and drug retailers with 2,300+ stores. Successful candidate will be responsible for auditing incoming deliveries for compliance to product specifications and receiving requirements. Documents non-compliance and rejections, and informs Procurement, Quality Manager, and others as needed.
May rate products according to Company and USDA specifications. Maintains necessary inspections and rejection records.
Accepts or rejects product based on condition, short weight, transit damage, grade, temperature, and other reasons. May reject product without further consultation if product doesn’t meet Company’s requirements/standards.
Informs buyers on product quality as necessary.
Will be trained on banana ripening process
Prepares warehouse condition reports as requested.
May organize shipping schedule for all items having different degrees of maturity. Gives shipping instructions to assembly via warehouse supervision.
Determines the dollar cost and cause of warehouse shrink due to spoilage. Makes recommendations to management regarding reduction in shrink.
Maintains logs and records of spoilage, including information on overbuying, lack of retail performance, weak produce, etc. Prepares monthly and quarterly recaps for review by management.
Ensures that appropriate personnel are trained in the proper handling, storage, rotation, and selection of produce to be shipped to the retail units. Ensures that shipping crews are provided with daily information on lots to be shipped.
Must be available to work on Saturdays.
Must be self-motivated with positive attitude as well as able to handle and address changing priorities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Basic statistical knowledge helpful.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
Ability to work independently with little supervision.
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.
Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
