Project Estimator

The Cost Estimator will provide accurate and comprehensive estimating services for the key biddable divisions to ensure bid packages for both negotiated and competitive bids are accurate and of high quality. Because the Cost Estimators are highly independent, prioritization and follow-through are critical as are updates to management around key projects.

Responsibilities of this role include:

• Accurate and comprehensive bid packages
• Support an environment of collaboration among the sales, estimating, office and fabrication and installation departments.
• Proficient in estimating for all biddable divisions.
• Proficient in preparation, interpretation and presentation of project estimates.
• Perform value added cost analysis for project budget preparation.
• Perform detailed digital quantity take-offs for assigned divisions.
• Reconcile potential projects with current awarded projects to foresee potential schedule conflicts.
• Prepare conceptual cost models.
• Work collaboratively with both commercial and residential departments with proposal development.
• Ability to hold a turnover meeting and elaborate on newly awarded projects.
• Initiative to follow-up with bids that have been sent and finding a definitive resolution as to the outcome.

Position Requirements:

• Experienced and comfortable reading construction plans
• Strong Microsoft Office and Outlook, Bluebeam and Excel
• Very strong knowledge of architectural and electrical plans
• Ability to work thoroughly, quickly and efficiently
• Adept at identifying opportunities
• Proficient in estimating terminology
• Understanding of constructability
• Experience working in the field to help make models more practical
• Experience working on models produced by architects verifying data and information
• Experience performing take off, even if manually
• Familiarity with job portals
• Ability to create submittals for awarded projects
• Ability to learn and retain knowledge of the window treatment industry
• Understanding the business steps and knowing where your position falls
• Ability to learn Quickbooks
• Able to work under pressure and multi-task
• Handles ambiguity well and is able to make good decisions independently
• Able to work independently without supervision

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 20 pounds independently. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus due to working for long periods on the computer with plans and spreadsheets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to stand; sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk.
The hours for this position are generally Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with occasional overtime during peak times. This position is exempt.
