Description

Brethren Village Retirement Community, in Lititz, PA, is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to help maintain our large campus. The Maintenance Technician will work with the Maintenance team to help keep Brethren Village’s commercial and residential systems, equipment, and appliances operating effectively, efficiently, and safely.

The Maintenance Technician will install, repair, and maintain appliances, equipment, and systems, including within Residents’ rooms, apartments, and homes; in our onsite health care facilities; in our commercial kitchens; in offices; and in public areas of the Brethren Village campus.

The Maintenance Technician must understand and abide by OSHA’s safety standards, and must be able to work safely with tools and around appliances, equipment, and electrical systems.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

Performing routine and preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment and facilities. Trouble-shooting equipment-related problems.
Performing HVAC equipment repair and maintenance, including minor troubleshooting, changing air filters, cleaning coils in air handlers and fan coil units, etc.
Repairing and maintaining commercial cooking equipment, as well as small appliances.
Repairing health care equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds, patient lifts, etc.
Responding to service calls from Residents regarding maintenance-related issues in their homes or rooms; providing prompt, effective, and friendly service at all times to Residents.
Entering and retrieving data from computerized databases. Creating written or electronic documentation and reports, based on regulatory requirements.
As needed, helping to move furniture; performing snow and ice removal, including using a plow; completing basic plumbing work; providing general labor services.
Safely and properly using hand tools and power tools; consistently completing all work in a safe manner and consistently adhering to relevant policies and regulations.
Working cooperatively with co-workers and management.

Work Schedule:

Full-time, 40 hours per week; hours will typically be 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The Maintenance Technician may be expected to report to work during off-hours on occasion, due to urgent or emergency situations.
The Maintenance Technician will serve on-call some weeks.

A valid PA driver’s license, proof of personal auto insurance, and a driving record free from excessive or serious violations is required.

Requirements

Additional Requirements for This Position:

formal training in a mechanical or electrical field, or applicable professional experience
at least 2 years of work experience as a Maintenance Technician; prior work experience in a health care setting or other large campus setting is desirable
able and willing to safely complete all work assignments; knowledge of OSHA’s Lockout/Tagout standard and other safety standards
thorough knowledge of materials, tools, and techniques necessary to complete a variety of jobs; the ability to use a variety of hand tools and power tools properly and safely
ability to climb ladders; carry and lift objects; reach overhead; stoop and bend; push and pull carts and objects; shovel snow and safely operate a plow; and stand and walk frequently during the shift
ability to complete work in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner
ability to write clearly in order to complete documentation and regulatory records / reports; able to accurately enter and retrieve data from computer systems
flexibility with respect to work schedule, including ability to serve on-call, report to work on weekends if needed, and report during inclement weather
a valid PA driver’s license, proof of personal auto insurance, and a driving record free from excessive or serious violations
