Maintenance Mechanic

Construction Contractor is seeking an individual for the following position:


Reports to: The Lead Mechanic

The Maintenance Mechanic Position is responsible for all periodic maintenance and repair of fleet equipment and tools. Will need to assist in loading and unloading trucks in the yard when necessary. The Maintenance Mechanic reports directly to and takes direction from the Lead Mechanic.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The following list contains many of the duties to be performed but is not all inclusive. They are:

• Maintain all company equipment on various jobsites.
• Review all maintenance procedures and schedules for existing and new equipment.
• Operate and maintain company lube truck.
• Perform PA state safety inspections on all vehicles
• Assist Lead mechanic with repairs.
• Apply touch up paint on equipment and run for parts when needed.
• Make small deliveries with pickup or small non-cdl truck including pull behind compressors, ground heaters, light towers, supplies, etc.
• Coordinate with crane inspector on annual basis to make sure that all company cranes are OSHA and FMCSA certified.
• Maintain equipment software and service records.
• Assist in snow removal as needed.
• Assist in keeping the shop and yard clean.

Work Hours:

• Monday thru Friday (typical)
• Eight (8) hours a day, plus overtime if necessary
• Saturdays and Sundays if necessary
• Night shift if necessary

These hours may change due to weather conditions or job schedules.


A Maintenance Mechanic must meet the following requirements and standards:

• Must have knowledge and experience with but not limited to: hydraulic systems, gas engines, diesel engines, electrical systems, drive trains and various hand tools.
• Must have basic typing and writing skills.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Must support teamwork by participating, cooperating, and communicating with co-workers.
• Must own basic repair tools.
• Must be knowledgeable of proper tool usage
• Must demonstrate a proficiency in maintaining and repairing equipment in a safe and productive manner.
• Must communicate with Lead Mechanic on all aspects of equipment repair, lubrication schedules and major purchases.
• Must accomplish his/her work in a reasonable time frame so as not to delay the job schedules.
• Must maintain the service/lube truck, and show up to work on time every day.
• Must be willing to travel to any and all job sites without exception (including staying away from home if necessary).
• Must comply with established company safety and operating rules, procedures, and guidelines in a safe manner in order to avoid personal injury and equipment damage.
• Must have a valid driver’s license in the State of Pennsylvania (having or willing to obtain a commercial driver’s license a plus).
• Must be able to pass (& maintain) a valid DOT physical.
• Must be able to occasionally lift and carry 100 lbs.
• Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, and work in rough terrain in order to access equipment and make necessary repairs.
• Must be able to work the hours necessary in order to achieve the goals of the company.

Work Environment:

The main reporting location for work will be at the Company’s shop location at 175 Lamont Street in New Cumberland, PA. In addition, the Maintenance Mechanic will be required to travel to any job site where needed. Typically, these locations will be in Pennsylvania. Because job sites are not shielded from the weather, working can include excessive heat, cold, wind, rain and other weather-related aspects. At times, work will be conducted on uneven terrain, at heights and near/over water.

Reporting Relationship

A Maintenance Mechanic will report directly to the Lead Mechanic. The Maintenance Mechanic will be required to record their own work hours by means of a Company timesheet (which they must hand in to the Front Office). At times, the Maintenance Mechanic may get specific direction from the President and/or Vice President of the Company for repair items, and also receive direction for safety-related issues form the Safety Director.
