HVAC Maintenance Technician

Full-time Position, Available on: 2023-03-20

*Full-time: 80 hours biweekly: 8:00AM-4:30PM
-Part of an on-call rotation.

The HVAC Maintenance Technician installs, inspects, operates, and repairs any HVAC or refrigeration equipment, including ice machines and cooling towers, within the Mennonite Home Communities facilities. They also operate the building automation system computer by programming times and cycles. This position is performed in accordance with Mennonite Home Communities Core Values, Mission Statement, and regulations.


-High school diploma or equivalent required.
-Two (2) years of on-the-job experience plus the instruction and completion of an approved three (3) years apprenticeship.
-Must have a valid PA Driver’s License for the past two (2) consecutive years.


-Inspects and installs new equipment. Troubleshoots and makes repairs to HVAC and refrigeration equipment. Modifies existing equipment to accommodate necessary system changes. Makes recommendations for equipment update or replacement.
-Is knowledgeable of and operates the building automation system computer. Exhibits a technical knowledge on the design and service of heat pumps, the electrical application to refrigeration and air conditioning, basic and advanced refrigeration, air conditioning, heating and cooling load calculation, automatic refrigeration, and air conditioning and heat pump controls. Displays a knowledge of basic computer programming. Possesses a knowledge of the fire alarm system as well as any other emergency alarm system.
-Assists the Preventative Maintenance Technician in performing preventive maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
-Maintains and stocks HVAC and refrigeration parts and equipment.
-Prioritizes and is flexible. Works cooperatively and efficiently with minimal supervision. Schedules and works with outside contractors.
