Healthcare Dining Services Supervisor

Full-time Position, Available on: 2022-02-28

The Dining Assistant Supervisor is responsible for the function of the household kitchen which involves maintaining quality standards and service to meet the nutritional needs of the residents in accordance with regulations, policies and procedures. Responsible for overseeing all Healthcare Household kitchens/dining rooms.

A. Prepares and serves high quality food in accordance with standards and regulations. Example: cooking to order, special orders

B. Understands diets and special nutritional needs of residents and honors their preferences. Modifies food accordingly to meet the nutritional needs of residents.

C. Maintains high standards of meal quality and appearance. Takes initiative in recognizing and communicating to appropriate team members ideas regarding improvement to resident dining experiences.

D. Supervises and assists the household staff with meal time service. Helps prepare appropriate snacks.

E. Ensure smooth and timely service of the dining rooms

F. Responsible to perform duties in a competent manner and in conformance to regulations, policies and procedures.

G. Must be knowledgeable of all menus, modifications and descriptions.

H. Responsible for inventory, storing and ordering household china, food and paper supplies.

I. Keeps all kitchen areas clean and organized in compliance with regulations. Reports repairs and maintenance needs in an appropriate and timely manner.

J. Consistently follows sanitation procedures and universal precautions to preserve food quality and prevent transmission of food-borne illness.

K. Be knowledgeable in operating and cleaning all kitchen equipment.

L. Maintains proper documentation of food temperatures and equipment temperatures for regulatory compliance.


A. Participants in Quality Assurance Performance Improvement for Dining Services.

B. Employee has completed annual Compliance and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the code of conduct in the performance of their duties.

C. Mandatory training requirements completed as assigned on time.

D. Assisting Director of Dining overseeing healthcare kitchens and dining rooms

E. Assigning dining assistants to designated households. Ensure opening and closing side work is being completed on a daily/weekly basis.

F. Assist in producing a bi-weekly schedule with budgetary guideline for service staff.

G. Assist in ensuring an adequate number of dining assistants for each shift and ensures absences are covered as to not allow for coverage holes

H. Assist in hiring, training and coaching of employees in accordance with Department and Human Resource’s policy

I. Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward all residents, visitors and co-workers

J. Responsible to assist in other duties as assigned.

A. A high school diploma or GED preferred.

B. One to two years experience preferred in a skilled nursing or retirement facility.

C. Certification through Dietary Manager’s Association (CDM) preferred.

D. Complete Serv Safe training / certification.

E. Complete Dining Assist Program.

F. Basic computer skills needed.

G. The Dining Services Supervisor is responsible to report to the Director of Dining Services.
