Smucker Laser Cutting & Machine Fabrication (a division of Sam S. Smucker & Sons, Inc.) is a premier metal fabrication manufacturing firm serving clients in the South-Central Pennsylvania region. We provide laser cutting and metal fabrication services from manual prototyping to automated long run productions. We continue to grow and are seeking Fabrication Specialists to join our team.
Welder/Fabricator Production Requirements:
• Lay out, position, align, and fit components together while maintaining tight tolerances
• Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding
• Interpret and read blueprints or shop drawings
• Set up welding equipment safely
• Move between production assignments that utilize multiple skill endorsements as needed to support production requirements
• Safely operate forklifts, electric hoists to move products, when necessary
• Verify quality and perform basic inspections of finished parts
Welder/Fabrication Specialists may perform other tasks within our fabrication shop including:
• Press Brake Operating – operate an electric press brake and support the production team by assembling parts, operating machinery, and bending metal products; and
• Machining – operate manual machine tools such as lathes, milling machines (e.g., Bridgeport Mill), and grinders to produce metal parts.
We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
• 3+ years experience MIG and TIG welding and fabricating
• Experience welding, fabricating, machining, operating a press brake, or working with sheet metal;
• Ability to read blueprints;
• Proven measurement and mathematical skills;
• Computer skills (Windows, MRP, machine touch screen computer controls);
• Team player with good communication skills; and
• Ability to use basic hand tools and measuring instruments
• GMAW Metal Core, GMAW Flux, GTAW of all alloys in varying thickness, geometry and structural shapes
• Clear understanding and background of AWS D1.1
• QC experience would be a plus
