Franklin & Marshall College is recruiting for a full-time Carpenter.

The Carpenter assists with daily maintenance of College properties including the interior and exterior of all College building; stationary, and mobile structures.
Provide assistance with the repair and replacement of furniture, doors, ceiling tile systems, VCT tiled floors, windows, caulking and metal panels, clean debris from roof drains, gutters, downspouts and scuppers.
Perform preventative and call maintenance through the work order system as requested by the Service Response Center.
Assist painter on painting projects and work orders as required. Effectively prepare surfaces for painting by scraping, spackling, taping and priming. Accurately apply paint by brush, roller or spraying.
Operate power tools, recommend tools to manager for purchase and maintain shop and personal tools. Maintain appropriate levels of consumable materials and supplies.
Perform on call duties throughout the year. Assist Special Work Assignment Team on College events. Assist grounds with snow removal.

High school diploma or GED required
Carpentry Technology training or degree required
at least 2 years of carpentry experience required
Valid PA Drivers License required
Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of google suite/ Microsoft office
Ability to identify issues, obtain relevant information, relate and compare data from different sources, and identify alternative solutions
Ability to manage resources, monitor activities, and assess risks and quality issues associated with the program/project
Ability to work with hand and power tools and work from stepladders, extension ladders, expanding planks, scaffolding and lifts
Ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty and staff, and other constituencies is essential.
Because this position requires driving for College business, the successful candidate must possess a U.S. or Canadian driver’s license which has been valid for at least two years, have a driving record that is free from excessive motor vehicle violations within the last three years, and have had no convictions in the last 24 months for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of reference checks, a criminal background verification, Pennsylvania ACT 153 background clearances, and verification of credentials. The College will coordinate these verifications.
