Job description
The Bakery Manager provides direct oversight of bakery production, cake room, delivery drivers, mail order and York and Roots markets. They effectively manage the daily production and quality of our baked goods and work with managers and supervisors to support retail and cafe operations. Another goal is to create a positive culture with staff consistent with the mission and foundational values of the company.
Job Requirements: Full time open availability (Monday-Sunday) including very early mornings. Significant professional baking experience and knowledge. Scratch bread baking experience is preferred. Guest service experience preferred. Culinary degree preferred. Positive attitude is a must.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate the daily operations between the AM shift, PM shift and Cake department.
Hands-on baking and production work with team daily.
Schedule staff for the AM & PM production shift.
Responsible to effectively manage staff hours according to budget goals.
Communicate effectively on a daily basis with direct reports to review upcoming production requirements, special orders, product quality, etc. This would include holding regular department meetings.
Manage the sanitation program in the production and storage areas of the Bakery.
Plan out weekly production work for AM and PM production shifts.
Oversee training programs for AM & PM production staff to ensure proper training of new staff.
Develop and maintain a quality control program. Including proper ingredient and product rotation.
Participate in and support special events.
