High School Program Updates/Reminders for May 8

Certificates and Awards Recognitions – Week of May 25

The governor’s extension of the stay-at-home order for Lancaster County is clear and disallows any possibility of large gatherings into June.  The LCCTC faculty and staff extend their sympathy to the Class of 2020.  We all wish that we could hold a ceremony worthy of your accomplishments.

We have conferred with our sending districts and developed a virtual alternative Certificates and Awards to supplement the districts’ existing graduation plans.  Our Principals and Assistant Principals will attend individual program class sessions on Zoom during the week of May 25.  They will be the LCCTC’s representatives to convey our pride and admiration for the work that our students have done this school year.  The principals will work with the instructors to develop the specific schedule.  We will share that schedule as soon as it is finalized.  Students will receive their certificates during Student Item Pickup (details below).

We are so proud of our students and their perseverance!  We can honestly say that we will never, ever forget the Class of 2020!

End of the School Year Timeline

The LCCTC has created a timeline for faculty, staff, and students to end the school year in a way that satisfies educational requirements, conforms to the required safety measures, allows opportunity for students to reclaim their belongings left at the campuses, and return borrowed tools and technology.  This timeframe is fluid and may change due to emerging issues or further instruction from the state.  The plan, at the time of publishing, is as follows:

  • Monday, June 1 – End of Virtual Instruction (the last day of school)
  • Tuesday, June 2 through Thursday, June 4 – Student Personal Belongings Pickup
    • Campus principals and instructors are creating a schedule for CTC programs to have time slots within these days for students to pick up belongings. That specific schedule will be released as soon as it is developed.
    • Approximately a third of all programs at each campus will be scheduled each day. Each scheduled program students will have the full day to pick up items.  The CTC will control the flow and number of people in the buildings at all times.  All instructors will be present.
    • Students must pick up the items themselves. Substitutes are not allowed.
    • Items not picked up on that day will be bagged and labeled. Leftover items can be picked up by appointment when administration is available and interaction is allowed by the Department of Education and the governor.
    • All Chromebooks will be returned during this time. All portfolios and certificates will be distributed.

Entrance into School Premises

      • All school employees and students will wear masks and gloves while on the premises.
      • If students do not have a mask or gloves, we will give them masks and gloves to wear while on the premises.

LCCTC Honors Teachers, Nurses, and Nurse Educators

What would a school be without teachers?  How could a society function without nurses?  The circumstances that we find ourselves in as a society has thrown a spotlight on the contributions that nurses and teachers provide to the world.  We cannot thank them enough.

The LCCTC administration (with the vital support of teacher Jamie Redcay) has put together a video of appreciation to all of our LCCTC teachers and for teachers everywhere.  We also posted our appreciation of Nurses and Nurse Educators on social media.  Please take a moment to appreciate teachers, nurses, and nurse educators along with us.

Mental Health Resources

We are seeing a rise in inquiries from students and families regarding stress, anxiety, and depression related to the pandemic and the social changes that society is experiencing because of it.  The CTC has links to helpful mental health and wellbeing resources on our Covid-19 Resource webpage and on the counselors’ page on Canvas.  If you feel that you need help, please reach out to your campus counselors or check out the online resources.  Don’t think that you’re alone!  Help is here if you need it.

If you have any questions about your program at the LCCTC, please ask your instructor.

Thank you and be safe.
