The Lancaster County Career and Tech Center has not been immune to the effects of the teacher shortage felt by schools across the country. Luckily, we have been able to fill the majority of positions left empty by retirees and resigning instructors. The one exception has been for our Computer Systems Technology Program located at our Brownstown Campus.
Following the late May resignation of the program instructor, our administrative team had limited time to find a replacement. After an unsuccessful interview process, the team reached out to our supporting districts, and fellow CTCs to identify retirees and potential candidates. It was only after exhausting every option that the CTC decided to pause the program for the 23-24 School Year to allow more time to secure a qualified instructor to continue the program in 2024.
This pause impacts 23 students enrolled in Computer Systems Technology. The LCCTC has identified 23 open spots in related programs and will be offering the impacted students seats in those courses on a first-come first-serve basis. The related programs include:
Interactive Media & Web Design
Student Services has begun to reach out to the impacted students and their families to inform them of the program pause and walk them through the steps required to change programs.
The LCCTC offers our sincerest apology to those affected by this decision, and we look forward to re-opening the Computer Systems Technology program with revived vigor next year. Until then we will be working to ensure a smooth transition for the affected students to provide a successful start to their school year.
