Authorities advise that individual transportation is more effective in mitigating the spread of infection than is mass transportation during the pandemic.  As a result, the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center encourages full-day and half-day students to drive themselves or to get a ride to school from their parent or guardian.  Doing this will help to minimize the overall number of students commuting to and from the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center each day by bus.

To promote self-driving, the LCCTC has suspended the cost of parking permits for the school year.  We are also allowing juniors to request parking permits for the 20-21 school year.

Student drivers and students being dropped off and picked up by parents or guardians must adhere to the following rules regarding the start and end to the school day:

  • All drivers enrolled in full day programs must be in their classrooms by 8:00 am and must remain until 2:35 pm regardless of the dismissal time of their sending high school.
  • If a student driver arrives after 8:00 am they must report to the attendance secretary upon arrival.
  • Half-day morning students must be in their classrooms by 8:00 am. They will depart promptly following their buses.
  • Half-day afternoon students must arrive at the same time as the bus from their high school. They will remain in class until 2:35 pm.

Additional rules and regulations are detailed in information that students receive upon applying for a parking pass.

If a secondary student wishes to transport one other LCCTC student on a consistent basis, prior written permission must be obtained.  Students, parents, and guardians must adhere to the LCCTC Driving Responsibilities and Guidelines in order to retain the privilege of driving a vehicle to and from the LCCTC.
