June 15, 2021

The Lancaster County Career & Technology Center joins Roman Astree’s family, friends, and school community in grieving his recent passing.  Roman was a 2021 graduate from Hempfield School District who attended the Interactive Media & Web Design class at the CTC’s Brownstown Campus.

The official statement from Hempfield School District is below.

We were informed that Roman Astree, a 2021 graduate of Hempfield High School, died unexpectedly this past weekend. Roman was also a student of the Lancaster County CTC Brownstown Campus in Interactive Media & Web Design.

Roman was active in the Hempfield High School band, playing the trombone and baritone. In response to this tragic news, additional staff members were present at the high school band’s regular summer practice on Monday to support students as they remembered and celebrated Roman.

Please know that the sudden death of a peer can cause a wide range of emotional reactions. At home, we suggest that parents and guardians listen to their children, answer their questions simply and honestly, and be prepared to answer the same questions repeatedly. Additionally, our website provides Grief Resources that may be of assistance to your student(s) during this difficult time.

Our thoughts are with the family and with our Hempfield community.

If any LCCTC students, faculty, staff, or families would like to discuss how to support each other during this difficult time, please contact the Supervisor of Student Services or the campus principals at the email links below.
