To the Secondary Students of the Lancaster County CTC,
Secondary programs at the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center are proceeding online wherever possible. We will be posting regular updates on Adult Education programs to the LCCTC website at www.lancasterctc.edu/news .
Secondary Program Updates for April 19
We continue to see more and more LCCTC secondary students logging into online learning and participating. Some teachers are adapting lessons to take advantage of the state’s “stay-at-home” instructions. For example, Photography students from the Brownstown campus have been focusing on indoor photography and investigating its specific skill set.
Some of that added participation in online learning is being driven by the instructional opportunities that our Secondary and Post-Secondary instructors are developing. For example, Mount Joy Introduction to Construction Instructor Aaron Adams (with help from his daughter) has developed his own YouTube channel and filled it with many videos that demonstrate construction skills for his students. You can check out his YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6RM_MhrMneOSOCZQElNokw/videos.
LCCTC ESL Instructor Jami Collier said that she is seeing a lot of student engagement with her English Learners coupled with a genuine desire to continue learning. Jami has joined in on classroom Zoom lessons and Zoom circles which allow students to connect and share with their teachers and peers. The students play competitive games of Kahoot to learn new material and used FlipGrid to create video submissions. Online learning has also created an opportunity to “meet” some of her students’ parents and family members through video chats as they worked together to navigate the Canvas assignments.
We recognize that this is a challenging time for everyone. If you have any questions about your program at the LCCTC, please ask your instructor.
Thank you and be safe.
