To the Adult Students of the Lancaster County CTC,

Post-secondary programs at the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center are proceeding online wherever possible.  We will be posting regular updates on Adult Education programs to the LCCTC website at www.lancasterctc.edu/news.

Adult Education Program Updates for April 17

Congratulations to the Practical Nursing Class 43 on their graduation on April 8!  We sympathize with the members of the class that their graduation must be indefinitely postponed due to the current shut down.  However, despite that setback, their names have been forwarded to the state Board of Nursing as new graduates.

Additionally, the Practical Nursing staff conducted a fully-online orientation for Class 46 on April 9.  New students were able to review the PN handbook and financial aid issues, meet the evening instructor, work out technical issues with account access and emails, sign documents, and conduct all of the business of a normal student orientation.

Several courses included Welding Technology, Advanced Welding, and the Associate Degree and Certificate Automotive Technology programs all moved to online instruction as of April 6.

Short-term classes that were running when the shutdown occurred will be moved to virtual instruction, including Basic Welding, MIG Welding, TIG Welding, Electric ARC Welding, Basic Industrial Maintenance Technology, Medical Terminology, Phlebotomy, and Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA).

Our current Veterinary Technology and Dental Hygiene courses are winding down for the semester after immediately moving online on March 16.  The LCCTC will hold our admissions interviews for the upcoming Dental Hygiene and Veterinary Technology programs via Zoom with the hopes of admissions decisions being made in mid-May.

CDL and HEO courses are still hampered by the closure of PennDOT and the state restriction on in-person instruction.  We are waiting for further developments from the state to determine what form these programs will take in the coming months.

The Financial Aid and Bursar offices conducted their first online Financial Planning Session on April 14.  These sessions are designed to assist students with the financial planning process needed to enter training.  This session hosted about 19 participants and provided information on student accounts, billing processes, payment plan options, financial aid opportunities, and much more.  We highly recommend that students planning to attend programs at the LCCTC go online to https://lcctc.axstudent.com/crs/27 and register for an upcoming Financial Planning Session.

State Grant Deadline Reminder for degree-seeking students only!  All first-time applicants enrolling in a two-year degree program – applications must be received by August 1, 2020.  All other applicants – the application deadline has been extended to be received by May 15, 2020.

We recognize that this is a challenging time for everyone.  If you have any questions about your program at the LCCTC, please ask your instructor.

Thank you and be safe.
