Lancaster County Career & Technology Students Excel at 54th Annual SkillsUSA National Competition

The week of June 25-29, nine Lancaster County Career & Technology Center students competed in the SkillsUSA National Competition in Louisville, KY. We are proud to announce that LCCTC has two national champions and one national runner-up!

Ashley Stetler, a recent Conestoga Valley School District graduate, won first place in Medical Assisting; Vi Nguyen, a recent graduate of Manheim Township School District, won first place in Dental Assisting and Audrey DiFilippo, a recent graduate of Solanco School District, placed second in Customer Service!

Stetler has secured full-time employment as a medical assistant at Meadow Brook Family Medicine; Nguyen is planning to attend college for dental hygiene and DiFilippo continues to work at the front desk at Bird Inn Hand Family Inn, ultimately, she wants to become a wedding planner.

SkillsUSA is a national student organization that develops employability, participatory and leadership skills to complement the occupational skills developed by students in technical education classrooms or work-based learning sites.  SkillsUSA is an integral part of approved technical education occupation programs.

A portion of the SkillsUSA curriculum includes district, state and national competitions where students have the opportunity to showcase their skills and compete against their career and tech ed peers in their field of study.  These competitions are judged by industry experts who devote their time to judging the next generation of skilled workers.
