The Lancaster County Career & Technology Center’s Joint Operating Committee has voted to discontinue operations at the Driver License Center at the Mount Joy Campus, effective February 28, 2022.  Appointments scheduled throughout February will be honored.  New appointments can still be made for open testing slots through February.

Numbers of individuals scheduling testing at the LCCTC has been falling since the fall of 2019.  That year, PennDOT opened a second driver’s license testing facility in Lancaster that has significantly affected the volume of students seeking driver’s license examinations at the LCCTC.

The closure of the non-commercial Driver Testing Center offers a benefit to the LCCTC’s Commercial Driver’s (CDL) License Training and Testing programs.  By eliminating the Driver License Center, those personnel dedicated to the center can be shifted to support and expand our CDL training and testing programs.  Increasing the volume of training and testing in our CDL program will produce more drivers and help to combat the truck driver shortage in the region.

It has been a privilege to serve the community as an alternative testing center for many years.  We look forward to supporting the community and offering safe and effective commercial truck driver training into the future.
